Chandrayaan 3 is indian space probe which was launched on top of a launch vehicle, a rocket, on July 14, 2023. Chandrayaan 3 headed for the moon since then, it will land on the far side of moon, near the south pole. After recently Russia’s Luna 25, which was on similar moon mission, crash landed on the surface of moon, all eyes are now on the Chandrayaan 3 of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).
The lander from Chandrayaan 3 space mission, which will actually land on the moon’s surface is called Vikram lander. After Luna 25 crash landed, people are not certain about the fate of Chandrayaan 3’s moon lander. However, ISRO’s Chief S. Somanath said, even if the sensors and engines of Vikram lander do not work, it will be able to make a softlanding. He was very confident and hopeful while talking about the fate of Vikram Lander.
In an update shared via X Social media platform, ISRO revealed that Chandrayaan 2 orbiter, the orbiter from previous Chandrayaan mission of ISRO, formally welcomed the Chandrayaan 3 orbiter, as the communication established between the two. The X post in which this information was revealed, can be seen below on this page.
Also According to ISRO, several pictures of moon’s surface were taken by the Landing Hazard Detection and Avoidance Camera aboard the lander. These pictures were shared by the ISRO, via a social media post on the X platform. The post and the included pictures can be seen below.
It is actually a great opportunity which ISRO have to beat the Roscosmos, Russian Space Agency, after landing on the far side of the moon after the Russia’s Luna 25 lander destroyed on impact couple of days ago. However, if India fails to achieve softlanding the Vikram lander of Chandrayaan 3, then Russia will have the chance to again swing into action and be part of race once again to land on far side of the moon, near south pole.
The confidence of ISRO chief and other information shared by ISRO via different channels, reveal that India have all the odds stacked in their favour when it comes to make the soft landing of Vikram lander on the moon’s surface. Lets see what happens now, all eyes are now on Indian Space probe to land safely on the moon’s surface, as the Vikram lander gets ready to land on the moon on August 23, 2023.
