Crew 7 takeoff preparations are underway right now. Crew missions are sent to the International Space Station (ISS) by NASA (American Space Agency) in collaboration with SpaceX (the private transportation partner). Normally these crewed missions are for six month interval. i.e. Any astronauts going to ISS via these missions spend around six months at ISS.
Crew 7 mission target date have been set multiple times and have been moved forward. Now NASA have announced that they have set a new target date for Crew-7 mission to take off. According to the latest details from NASA, the Crew-7 mission will take off on August 25, 2023 at 03:49 am EDT. In case due to any reason the launch does not go as planned on the target date, the next launch opportunities for the Crew-7 mission are set to August 26 and August 27.
Previously, NASA had set the launch date to August 21, 2023 and before that even August 17, 2023 was also under consideration. However, according to NASA, the launchpad preparations are required, due to which the date have been moved forward.
Four Astronauts who will travel on the Crew-7 mission SpaceX Dragon capsule, all belong to four different space agencies of different countries. These astronauts include Jasmin Moghbeli from NASA, Andreas Mogensen from European Space Agency (ESA), Satoshi Furukawa from Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and finally Russian Space Agency, Roscosmos Cosmonaut Konstantin Borisov.
Previously, on March 04, 2023 01:40 am EDT Crew-6 mission capsule docked with ISS the ISS. And later on, on March 11, 2023 at 02:20 AM EDT Crew-5 Mission Undocked from ISS to start the journey back home. Similarly, once the Crew-7 mission (Expedition 69) reaches the ISS, the Crew-6 mission astronauts will make their preparations to return back to home planet.
The return of previous expedition mission normally takes just one to two weeks after the next expedition mission crew reaches the ISS in order to take charge of their duties.
